"Green garments" for a Healthier Environment
Custom Uniform Company uses only the highest quality fabric for all of the clothing we produce. Our cottons, polyesters, and woolens are time-tested and meet all uniform industry standards.
In addition, we provide for today’s socially sensitive and for those who are scrupulously aware of global warming, recycling, and of an ergonomically focused society:
We now provide our customers with a variety of additional fabrics created from all natural fibers.
We're excited about the growing demand for cotton spa uniforms & more.
We can give you 100% organic cotton; we can manufacture from converted soybean or bamboo; and yes, we can offer you hemp. Hemp, age-old and used around the world for thousands of years, is the most versatile and pure of the three.
Organic cotton often will be treated with multiple pesticides in order to protect its fragility, and while it is pure in terms of the plant, the bug repellants needed to protect it are not.
Fabric made from soybeans and bamboo — both originally natural fibers — actually become synthetics when converted to cloth. The conversion process from natural fiber to fabric is such an intense process that the chemicals used to transform the soybean and bamboo become more dominant than the original virgin plants; hence, the result is more the synthetic or chemically based threads rather than the environmentally pure ones.
Hemp is a fabric that has been grown for centuries, and is so hearty
that it is antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-static. Hemp fabrics are available in several different weaves: jersey knits, denim, hopsacks, a kind of corduroy, silk, charmeuse, and more. Some
hemp clothing is pre-shrunk, some is not. Some is quite stiff and
burlap-like in feel; or it can also be soft and pliable. In many respects it appears to be similar to linen.
Sometimes, hemp will be combined with another fiber such as the soybean, bamboo, or cotton for strengthening purposes.
But mostly, we find fabrics that are 100% hemp.
All of these variations come in greige goods (natural color without dye) and may be matched through our dyeing plants to any shade a customer chooses. Some hemp fabric selections come pre-dyed in limited earth tones, such as eggplant, rust, or sage green as well as the natural.
Ask us more about our variety of fabrics. We can make almost any
environmentally friendly garment for you in your choice of natural fibers and colors.
We can still do any color you choose selected through Pantone Textile hues, tints, and shades. We will do it for you, and provide sample dips for your approval. We can dye almost any garment or type of fabric from a white or natural shade. Price depends on weight of the fabric and the complexity of the garment. We have dyes that are standard, and those that are environmentally sensitive.
